Centre makes false promise to farmers: Niranjan
Bhubaneswar, June 30: Central govt. led by BJP and its leader Narendra Modi is making false promises to farmers. It declares so many schemes for development of farmers, which are practically not reaching the ground line. Now the monsoon has arrived the entire Odisha as well as the country. But no MSP has been announced for 24 major crops, as done by June first or second week usually. This has put the farmers in dilemma and the sowing acerage is around 10% less than last year by this time, alleges Niranjan Patnaik, PCC president.
In a press release Mr. Patnaik has said this year monsoon has covered the entire area 15 days before schedule. Farmers are preparing their land for kharif crops. But the central govt. is yet to announce the MSP. On the other hand NITI AAYOG constituted by Prime minister has given three proposals to the govt. In which it has proposed that the fixing of MSP will be shifted to states. Also some private organizations will be allowed to procure directly from farmers. By this BJP govt. at centre is trying to shift its responsibility. Because of delay in MSP announcement farmers will be at loss, because if they are going to sow one crop and that does not get proper support price then definitely they will be unable to get back their input cost also. Therefore central govt. must announce the MSP at the earliest and Chief Minister of Odisha must put pressure on centre for the cause of the farmers demands Mr. Patnaik.
