Webinar on revival of t’rism industry by SOA
Bhubaneswar, June 10: With the hospitality industry worldwide reeling under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the SOA Deemed to be University is holding a series of consultations with the objective of finding ways to revive this vital sector of the economy.
SOA’s third such consultation on the subject ‘Re-imagining Heritage Tourism in a Post-Covid World’ through a webinar will be held on Friday aiming at accumulating the cognitive thoughts and ideas for the rapid revival of the tourism sector.
“The time has come to prepare ourselves for the future of tourism as the industry, the trend and the whole scenario is going to be transformed,” Prof. (Dr.) Sitikantha Mishra, Advisor cum Dean, School of Hotel Management (SHM), SOA’s faculty of tourism, said.
The series of webinars are being organised by SHM with two such events already held on June 2 and 5, he said.
The first webinar was on the subject ‘Conscious Dining and Culinary Practices—Pre, Present and Post Covid-19’ while the second was on the topic ‘Covid-19: Renaissance of the Accomodation Sector’.
Prof. (Dr.) Alok Sharma, Director, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Gwalior and Prof. (Dr.) Ambrosecchio Maria, President and Co-founder UET ITALIA, Scuola Universitaria will figure in Friday’s webinar, Dr. Mishra, who is the Webinar Director, said.
Other personalities who will participate in the discussion include Dr. Tapan Kumar Panda, Chief Academic Officer, Ampersand Group, Mumbai and former Professor, IIM-Indore, Mr. Utpal Pati, former Joint Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, Prof. (Dr.) Anders Serensen, Anthropologist and Tourism Researcher from Denmark and Dr. Prashant Goutam, Professor of Tourism, Punjab University. Dr. Sapan Kumar Sadual, Associate Professor, SHM, will coordinate the webinar.
SHM had earlier organised an international seminar on the subject ‘Aatithya- Past, Present and Future’ from December 18 to 20 last. The present series of webinar was an attempt to continue the journey seeking solutions as tourism had been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Mishra said.
